Help in need/patronage services for elderly people at risk in Sofia municipality - Iskar district

The project is oriented towards supporting vulnerable elderly people, who have serious difficulties in accessing essential goods, medication, paying utility bills and administrative services in the period of a pandemic crisis from COVID-19. The main goal of the project is to reduce the barriers to social inclusion and improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups who face challenges in satisfying their basic needs in a period of crisis. The realisation of the project will help this group of people (most threatened by COVID-19, as well as people in quarantine) who live at home, to overcome their limitations. The local authorities should react in a flexible way in such a situation, in order to create and develop services to help the vulnerable groups and prevent the spread of the virus among other groups of the community as well. The expected short-term effects from the achievement of the goal are related to ensuring support to vulnerable elderly people in the region of Iskar in Sofia municipality for dealing with their everyday lives. The main activities planned in the project are recruitment of staff for provision of the service and provision of support to the users for independent living. In view of providing access of the users to the service, as well as their safety, possibilities for transport from/to their homes is provided, as well as protective equipment for the staff of the service. 212 users, living at the territory of the Iskar region of Sofia municipality, who are identified by the Managing Authority as acceptable, are planned to be included in the service. A separate space for a dispatch centre is envisioned, where the activities will be coordinated. The duration of the project is 10 months and the services will be provided hourly, depending on the needs of the target groups for 10 months.
