"Integrated measures to overcome the social isolation of marginalized communities on the territory of Municipality of Maglizh"

The project is aimed at overcoming the social isolation of the Roma community and other high-risk groups in a vulnerable social situation on the territory of the Municipality of Maglizh, and the measures will be specifically focused on the representatives of the target group in three cities: Maglizh, Vetren and Dabovo. Social exclusion deepens poverty, leads to lower educational attainment and early school-leaving, discourages the full participation into employment, economic, cultural life, hinders access to health services as well as to prevention and treatment of major diseases, and at the same time reinforces the negative ethnical stereotypes in future generations. Marginalised groups have a significantly lower quality of life, and the established Roma communities promote isolation, deepen the negative stereotypes and often provide favourable grounds for outbreaks of acute infectious diseases due to lack of or inability to maintain good hygiene. In the context of a SARS CoV-2 pandemic, this situation may have a very negative effect on both the representatives of the target group and the inhabitants of the whole region. In search of a solution to the identified problems and in view of reaching the main objective, the Municipal Administration will aim to achieve the following specific objectives: - Activating 50 economically inactive persons from the target group - Working with parents regardless of their ethnic origin to raise awareness about the benefits of educational integration and acceptance of diversity - Increasing the level of health literacy of the Roma community by conducting preventive medical examinations, gynaecological consultations for women (additional consultation on the harm of early pregnancy in childhood), health talks, especially with a focus on preventing and reducing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 - Disinfection in Roma neighbourhoods of the three target cities with a view to preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2, especially in the cold season.
