Together against the violence

The prevention of all forms of violence is an important priority for MLSP in the context of the forthcoming ratification of Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. This act will lead to clear engagements for legislative changes and practical measures to support the women, victims of violence. In 2016 was approved a Gender Equality Act which purpose is creation of conditions for setting of institutional environment for implementation of gender equality policy. The Minister of Labour and Social Policy is obliged to organize the setting and support of gender equality monitoring system. The expectations are the data and analyzes from gender equality monitoring system to be used as a data base about the gender equality policy in practice. About the engagements under the Convention, the government is obliged to ensure specialized social services to support the victims of violence in Bulgaria, so everyone victim of violence to have a permanent and immediate access to services for accommodation, but also services for specific consultations, psychological support and interventions in crisis. Social workers meet serious difficulties in their daily work especially in cases of domestic violence; particularly it is related to adults suffering of violence. That`s why the social workers need additional capacity building of their professional capacity and knowledges, through trainings. As a result of the implementation of the project will be increased the capacity of the institutions, responsible for the development and the implementation of the policy, in the above mentioned areas of planning, monitoring and analyze, and development of skills for overtaking of adequate of the identified needs, activities, decisions and policies.
