“Social innovations for a more efficient social inclusion of disadvantaged Roma women”

The project aims to strengthen the transnational cooperation between Integro Association from Bulgaria and the “Mother Centers International Network for Empowerment e.V. - mine” from Stuttgart, Germany in their efforts to create more opportunities for social integration of vulnerable Roma women. It provides to Integro Association for first time opportunities to examine in depth through an expert approach the innovative practice of the Mother centers (MC), which have created a save evolving social space for women in vulnerable situation. Specifically, this project will explore the approaches of MCs of creating space and activities for children of the mothers, who attend them and of organizing and conducting activities generating incomes. We believe, these are among the most essential elements of MCs by which Roma women would easier overcome the patriarchal forces, limiting their opportunities for social and labor development. The project will also allow exploration of one more innovative practice – the Course in social orientation organized for migrants in many Western European cities. By adapting it to the needs of Roma women from patriarchal communities, who do not know so well the macro-society they live in, and its integration with other elements of MCs, we expect to create a social innovation that would increase the Romani women opportunities for social inclusion. The project envisages activities to study, adaptat and test of both innovative practices in three Roma communities from Bulgaria within the territory of the Danube. It builds on the results of a partnership project of "mine " and Integr, funded in 2015-2016 by the State Ministry of Baden-Wuerttemberg, through which three Roma women's groups were established seeking to develop their Mother Centers. This project is supported by the State Ministry of Baden-Vyurtemreg as it contributes to the transfer of knowledge and experience in areas important to them and to their regional policy on EUDSR.
