The project "The march of the customs" aims to re-discover, popularizes and develops the traditions and the customs in Zemen municipality after the example of Mores Municipality, Italy. They create, sustainable employment entrepreneurship and social - economical upsurge on the local level though different forms of popularizing of their customs - very similar to Bulgarian ones. This is a successful practise for finding solution with unemployment, typical feature for small villages. The idea has also synergy effect - raising touristic flow, incomes of the municipality, increasing the entrepreneurial spirit and popularizing the local traditions on a wider level. Within Zemen municipality the local traditions and customs will be examined, recovered and developed though creation of the Incubator (workshop) for traditionally local products, goods and services where those who wish to develop own business and who has entrepreneurial spirit as well as respect and proper attitude to Bulgarian national spirit and folklore originality. During the last years in Zemen are reborn several customs and the most popular among them is "Sourva", who traditionally welcomes more and more tourists (above 2000) from Bulgaria, but also from abroad, incl. Japan, China, etc. Typical for "Sourva" are the costumes - complicated , heavy, big, produced by velvet, wood, plumage, horns and other natural materials and the aims is to turn out the evil spirit, shady energy and to "clean" the places the sourvakars pass. At the moment all the masks and the costumes are made by the local population itself on the good will, but they are very insufficient to meet the raising interest for participation and the touristic interest as well. The idea of the Zemen municipality is to turn the local customs in opportunities for employment, advertising of the local traditions as well as incomes for the municipality and the local population via one beautiful and useful way following the Italian example.
