Social innovations for digital skills to the changing labor market

The project objective is to address the scope of investment priority 5 by proposing an innovative approach for human resource development and better adaptation of the target group (employed, including self-employed and employers) to the processes of digital transformation. The proposed model for development and transfer of social innovations aims at solving both the problem of the lack of qualified workforce in the ICT sector, through an innovative training, qualification and inclusion of the target group and supporting its adaptation to the changing labor market. The team of Sofia University in cooperation with the leading VET center Syntra West, Belgium and the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences, Kajaani, Finland, will create flexible practice-oriented training programs. They will address acquirement of digital skills at the workplace, according to the ICT professionals’ needs in the new domains (big data, high performance computing, machine learning, image recognition, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Smart Cities etc.). The transnational cooperation will lead to the development of 3 practice-oriented programs, equivalent to 15 ECST credits and 15 learning trajectories, which will be pilot tested and validated by 120 beneficiaries in Bulgaria. These programs will be certified under the professional qualification system of the Sofia University by offering a sustainable model for filling the identified gaps of human resources with specific digital skills. In cooperation with the Center for Vocational Training at the Bulgarian Industry Association will be organised events with ICT employers and stakeholders to promote our social innovations on the labor market and increase the national capacity to implement new mechanisms for developing life-long learning digital skills at work.
