Improving the processes related to the provision, access and reuse of public sector information

The project aims at the overall improvement of processes related to the maintenance and publication of public information in an open format for reuse, and the creation of a new mechanism for requesting and obtaining access to public information electronically and its publication on the Internet. Building an Open Data Portal and a Platform for the access to public information is a prerequisite for the easy reuse of public information by way of its publication in an open format, and for improving the mechanisms for access to information. The project will meet the needs of users of public information both for improving the processes of maintaining the information in an open, machine-readable format, and for creating new mechanisms for access to public information. The main target group of the project includes public sector organizations under APIA – state authorities, their territorial units, and local authorities in the Republic of Bulgaria, and other public legal entities and organizations. An additional target group comprises all users of public information who are its end users. The project activities include the construction of two specialized portals, a tool for the automatic uploading of data, and related research and training activities, thereby improving and upgrading the mechanisms for access to information and its reuse. The project implementation will help fulfill the obligations for public sector organizations under the APIA and the implementation of OPGG strategy on measures related to increasing transparency in the public sector, improving data sharing and public awareness, data opening, and upgrading the monitoring and evaluation of policies conducted by the involvement of civil society. The project is in implementation of the Strategic Goal 3 of the Public Administration Development Strategy 2014–2020.
