Capacity building of the police officers from the Ministry of Interior through specialized training

Efficiency in policing assumes that professional knowledge, skills and competencies by police officers are being constantly upgraded. Specifics of the activities of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) requires in-depth knowledge on various topics, exchange of experiences, best practices and fast adaptation to modernism and challenges in public and social life. The specialized training on current topics from the work of civil servants in the MoI is a necessity that ensures the efficiency of policing, the functioning of the MoI as competent and effective administration, called to serve the purpose of public interest and to ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens. The project implementation will contribute to the professional and expert management of the MoI by improving knowledge, skills and qualifications of officers through training in the field of public order, combating crime, fire safety and protection of population from disasters and accidents. This project has a budget of 3 909 725 million levs and will be completed within 26 months. The project beneficiary is the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, which is a specialized higher school for professional training and education for officers of the MoI and other relevant institutions. The project objective will be realized through the implementation of 12 independent activities. Each one is related to training, which is aimed at raising awareness by police officers in specific areas of their function. Implementing the planned activities provides for elaboration of manuals, training programs, distance learning courses etc. These educational materials will be used in the learning process by the target group, while their use after project completion will provide for upgrade of the project and will ensure its sustainability. The project envisages the training of 8300 officers of the Ministry of Interior, who upon completion of the project will have enhanced knowledge, skills and competencies.
