The project aims at conducting specialized training for 150 PFIA employees on topics, related to identification and prevention of specific risks of misuse, violations and frauds in the use of public funds and implementation of infrastructure projects of national and regional importance. The topic corresponds directly to the PFIA's powers to protect public finances and and to ensure control over compliance with legislation in the budgetary, financial, business or reporting activities. In the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects, substantial amounts of government funding are accumulated through budget transfers, targeted subsidies and funding through the European structural and investment funds and programs. The purpose of the financial inspection is to verify compliance with the rules on public procurement and regulations in the implementation of project activities, unlawful actions on spending and reporting of damages caused, etc. Mechanisms of public funding and the possibilities for creating public-private partnerships, definition of various aspects of the inspected activities are essential for the financial inspection, and therefore the project trainings will contribute to the acquisition of specific knowledge for implementing the powers of the Agency's staff.
