Citizen’s participation and government transparency: closing the gap

The project concept is based on the understanding that the interdependence between society and institutions have two clear consequences: the financing of these institutions depends on taxpayers, especially from business, not vice versa, and the task of these institutions is to protect public interests, not those of its administration. The effectiveness of the institutions with which businesses interact under the laws is a necessary condition for their own existence. Through the proposed activities the project will analyze, study and develop mechanisms for creating a more favorable business environment in the country. The activities of the project are aimed at studying the business involvement in formulating strategic documents and developing business-related OPs; Exploring good practices for business participation in OP development process; activating institutions to take account of identified needs and combining the resources provided and available by business circles, authorities and citizens; active co-ordination and partnership between them. At the heart of the project is the idea of uniting businesses, citizens, authorities and institutions to solve socio-economic problems and create conditions for prosperity of the regions. The expected results are: conducted survey; analysis done; formulated recommendations; a mechanism to improve the conditions of doing business; discussions held through the round table; access to the general public. The target groups targeted by the project proposal are: the public, non-governmental organizations, businesses and administrations of state institutions. The target value of indicator 2 is at least 4 and indicator 3 is 2. The project includes activities from each of the four groups of activities described in the guidelines. The implementation plan takes into account the time needed for preparation, incl. implementation of procedures for selecting contractors. The total budget of the project is BGN 89,100 incl. VAT.
