Improving citizen participation in updating the legal framework for cooperative structures in Bulgaria

The project to improve citizen participation in updating the legal framework for co-operative structures in Bulgaria has the task of developing and improving the process of prioritizing decision-making and policy-making that meet the needs of credit cooperatives in Bulgaria and the good functioning of public administration in this area. Currently, the legislative framework for cooperative structures needs updating and implementation of new governance models, and this can be done through civil society working together with governmental structures. In order to improve citizen participation in updating the legal framework for cooperative structures in these processes, the following activities are envisaged in the project: 1. Carrying out studies and research; 2. Collecting data and developing databases to support the processes of formulating, implementing and monitoring policies and legislation; 3. Development of analysis and methodology; 4. Making recommendations; 5. Creating an Internet platform for civil monitoring and control over the actions of the administration; 6. Transfer of good practices and / or innovative solutions; 7. Conducting trainings of BACCOM members; 8. Organizing an information campaign to raise public awareness of the opportunities / mechanisms / tools for civic participation; 9. Conducting conferences, public discussions, round tables and other similar activities with project stakeholders. As a result of the implementation of the project, we expect, through the civil participation of the cooperative structures, to help implement the principles of transparency, openness and efficiency of government. Their positions will thus be a corrective of political priorities and objectives and will be a tool for public control over state policy in the sector. The total value of the project is: BGN 89 996,40.
