Social enterprises in peripheral regions affected by demographic crisis - necessities, challenges, realities

The current project focuses on the problems of local communities in the peripheral mountainous and semi-mountainous regions (PMSMR) of the country. The project will be implemented on the territory of Smolyan region by two non-governmental organizations, registered and working in the region - Association Euroradar (Candidate) and Pax Rhodopica Foundation (Partner). The project results will be valid and applicable to all other towns in the country that are affected by a demographic crisis and / or experience the negative effects of a less favorable geographic location. The main objectives of the project are: 1) Analysis of the need to create social enterprises to prevent the de-socialization of elderly people, disadvantaged people, etc. in PMSMR with a problematic demographic structure as a prerequisite for improving the interconnections between civil society, administrative structures and business 2) Develop a more responsible and open management by promoting social entrepreneurship with the involvement of local communities, business and administration 3) Define recommendations for improving service delivery processes by local and regional administrations and government authorities to local communities in PMSMR by promoting and supporting social enterprises. The main results are: 1) Investigation and analysis of the problem by collecting 150 specially created questionnaires 2) Development of 2 analyses based on empirical data: a. Analysis of the problems and challenges faced by the civil society b. Analysis of opportunities and mechanisms for promoting the activity of social enterprises 3) Elaboration of an Analytical report with best practices, innovative approaches and appropriate models to promote social enterprises and active participation of civil society 4) Development of the Strategy for civil society development through supporting of social enterprises 5) Organization of a broad information campaign
