NGOs - the partner, ensuring open and responsible governance in the region of Lovech

The project " NGOs - the Partner, Ensuring Open and Responsible Governance in the Region of Lovech" of the "Ecomission 21st Century" Association has been developed in line with the Objective of the Priority Axis 2: "Effective and professional governance in partnership with the civil society and the business", and with the Specific Objective 3 "Increase of citizen participation in policy-making and control" of the “Good Governance” Operational Program 2014-2020. Within the project there will be carried out a research of the current situation, existing practices and potential for civil participation in the region of Lovech. Based on the research results, a methodology with models and specific approaches for mobilizing civic participation will be developed and piloted. The project envisages elaborating a toolkit for feedback and assessment from the citizens perspective of the interaction between the citizens and the State. Innovative practices of civic control over the actions of local administrations will be realized. Joint actions between the administrations and NGOs; youth initiatives and participation; a broad information campaign all over the region for raising public awareness and promoting the mechanisms of civic participation are envisaged. Specialized training will increase the capacity of the leading organization and volunteers from the target groups - Youth Councils and NGOs. The compliance with the horizontal principles of the Operational Program is guaranteed. Upon the project completion, the interaction between the administration and the citizens will be enhanced. Ecomission 21st Century Association will enlarge the actions for monitoring and civic control over local policies and legislation. The project will help strengthening the involvement of the civil society in the governance, promoting new opportunities for influencing the decision making, the elaboration and implementation of local policies in line with local priorities.
