Enhancing the role and responsibilities of citizens in democratic development at local and regional level

The present project proposal is aimed at increasing the citizens' activity in defining the social needs and the ways of their satisfaction at the local and regional level in order to achieve responsible and open management. This requires citizens to have the opportunity to participate in the work of local and state bodies and institutions and to influence decision-making, the elaboration and implementation of policies, strategic documents, laws and other normative acts in order to achieve maximum consistency and consensus among them and the state on various topics on the public agenda. Civil participation is one of the fundamental rights and characteristics of a democratic society. With the implementation of the project, the association has a responsible task to fill in with the content the various possibilities and forms of inclusion of citizens, to present a snapshot of the state in which environment the civic participation is manifested and actually influences the management decisions. The project proposal includes the following activities: 1. Activities for development of analyzes, studies, assessments related to the improvement of the civic participation in the processes of formulation and implementation of policies for improvement of the demographic crisis in Bulgaria. 2. Activities to develop mechanisms and tools for civil monitoring and civil monitoring of state actions, decisions, policies and legislation. 3. Joint activities between NGOs, as mediators of citizens and businesses, and administrations for the implementation of public policies, legislation and governance. 4. Activities to raise public awareness and promote civic participation in the process of formulating, implementing and monitoring policies and legislation As a result of the implementation of the activities, the studies and analyzes made will be addressed as a basis for generating ideas for a more successful stimulation of active citizenship.
