Application of models and policies to promote citizens' participation for responsible, shared, and dynamic local government

The "Application of models and policies to promote citizens' participation for responsible, shared, and dynamic local government" project aims at improving the local potential for interaction between the civil society and local authorities for responsible, shared and dynamic management. There are activities for the development of analysis of deficits and the potential for establishment of efficient mechanisms for citizen participation for the municipalities of Southeast region, exploring the international good practices and such at local level, creating a pilot model for civic consultation, participation and monitoring in the municipality of Burgas, conducting public events to raise awareness and build capacity for civil society participation in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of local policies and solutions. The target groups are employees of the municipal administration – Burgas, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Yambol, municipal councilors; general public, business, civil society structures on the target territory. The project proposal addresses the need to increase the confidence of civil society in the activities of local administrations, achieving a higher degree of transparency, responsibility and open up the process of formulating, implementing and monitoring the local policies to the civil sector. As a result of the implementation of the activities shared understanding of deficits and opportunities for active participation of citizens in the process of formation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public policies at the local level, improved capacity of the structures of civil society to participate effectively in the decision-making process at the local level; an established local model of partnership planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public policies will be achieved.
