Civic Hacking Initiative

The general objective of this proposal is achieving a new quality of the partnership between the government structures and the citizens/businesses by utilizing the innovative civic capacity to the benefit of increased openness of the governance and informing the public in a way that allows its participation in the resolution of public problems and the improvement of public services. This objective will be achieved through an initiative for civic IT support (civic hacking). The project target groups are the government structures, SAeG, non-government and civic organisations, the citizens and the business. The main fields of partnership for the resolution of problems of public significance will be identified with sources of related data and published open government data. To increase the open data accessibility for various groups, improved and diversified ways will be used for data visualization with the use of innovative forms that disclose correlations and present conclusions. CII will use its participation in European networks to improve the quality of the presented data, apply comparative analyses and generate best practice in the solutions of similar problems from other European states. To increase the data accessibility for various public groups of users through improved and diversified visualization we will conduct an online information campaign and three round table discussions. The partnership between the two organisations combines their experience and expertise in pursuing the project goals. Their responsibilities are distributed in accordance with the contribution of the respective experience and expertise to the achievement of the expected results. All results will be broadly accessible and promoted and involve significant multiplication potential. The interim and final reports will include recommendations to the authorities on ways of improving the citizens’ participation in the decision-making and policy and legislation formulation processes.
