"New Policies for Sustainable Alpine Tourism"

The development of alternative tourism in Bulgaria is directly linked to the huts - the accommodation, shelter and recreation facilities at the heart of high mountain tourism. The lack of quality services, the poor condition of the buildings, etc., are amongst the main reasons for creating and implementing new policies regarding the management of high mountain huts, not only as shelters, but also as places with a key role in the development of sustainable alternative tourism in the Bulgarian mountains. In this context, this project has the following objectives: 1. Promotion of partnership policy implementation along with the civic organizations, in the sphere of high mountain tourism, in particular - the management of the huts in Bulgaria. 2. Establishment of open and efficient policies for sustainable high mountain tourism through responsible management of the huts in the country. 3. Elaboration of recommendations for improvement of the processes of provision of services in the Bulgarian huts and improvement of the regulatory environment, regulating their functioning. Target groups: - Ministry of Tourism - Bulgarian Tourist Union - Commission for Economic Policy and Tourism - National Assembly - Bulgarian Tourist Companies - General Public, tourists Activities: 1. Research of good practices in the field of management of huts and alpine clubs - France, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria. 2. Elaboration of a compendium of recommendations for improving the management policy of high-mountain tourism, in particular - the huts. 3. Holding a conference with stakeholders and target groups to present good practices and recommendations. Results: 1. A study of good practices in the field of management of huts and alpine clubs in France, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria. 2. Recommendations made to improve the policy of management of high mountain tourism. 3. Communicated and presented results and recommendations among stakeholders and target groups.
