The Regional Food Safety Directorate - district of Varna / RFSD-Vn / is a territorial unit of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency / BFSA / and controls the territory of Varna. It is an independent legal entity and a third-tier authorizing officer. Its structure consists of a Director and 5 departments: Animal Health, Food Control, Plant Protection, Laboratory and Financial and accounting analysis. The project aims to improve the specialized knowledge and skills of the employees in the regional directorate, which is in line with the main purpose of the procedure - to improve the specialized knowledge and skills of the employees in the territorial administration. It provides for specialized in-person training on topics directly affecting the performance of the duties of the Directorate's employees: - control of animal health and animal welfare activities (during slaughter and transport); - control over the safety and quality of raw materials, foodstuffs, materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, establishments for the processing of animal by-products; - phytosanitary control and control of plant protection products; - food safety and quality. The training in each of the topics will be led by qualified lecturers, with experience and skills. The specialized trainings will include theoretical presentation and practices so as to enhance the professional qualifications of the RFSD employees. It is envisaged that trainings will be held on 10 different topics, directly related to the specific activity of the Regional Directorate, in order to increase the institutional capacity and effectiveness of the RFSD and to achieve better governance. It is envisaged to hold 300 pcs. specialized human trainings, and successfully trained 300 pcs. will receive a certificate that will have a positive impact on the capacity of the Directorate and the overall effectiveness of the BFSA's activities.
