Improving the Effectiveness of the Public Health Policy Implementation

The project "Improving the Effectiveness of the Public Health Policy Implementation" aims at improving the specialized knowledge and skills of the employees of the regional health inspectorates and the National center for radiobiology and radiation protection in the exercise of state health control and promotion and prevention of diseases in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The protection of citizens' health is a national priority and is guaranteed by the state through the implementation of various policies, incl. control of citizens' health protection activities and state health control. This project will use one of the ways to increase the effectiveness of the state health control, namely: improving the skills and knowledge of the state health inspectors by conducting specialized trainings. Within the planned trainings, the best practices will be presented, changes in the European and national legislation, as well as practical trainings for working with European Commission information systems, application of methods for determining immunization coverage, blast analysis, upgrading training to conduct HIV research and counseling, increasing knowledge of tuberculosis prevention and control and organizing information campaigns, enhancing the expertise of counseling professionals to motivate and quitting smoking, limiting the health risk of abuse alcohol and more. For an 18-month implementation period with a budget of 199,999, 80 BGN in 18 courses, the Ministry of Health will train 606 public health specialists from the Regional Health Inspections and the National center for radiobiology and radiation protection.
