The National System for Early Warning and Announcement (NSEWA) is a national security system. It supports the implementation of the Ministry of Interior's strategic objective of prevention, reliable protection and risk reduction for the population and sites of critical infrastructure in the event of disasters and emergencies. This system fulfills the obligations of the Ministry of the Interior and Europe's guidelines for enhancing community security. The National System for Early Warning and Announcement consists of two subsystems: - SEWA of the executive authorities and the constituent parts of the Unified Rescue System; - SEWA of the population. The first subsystem is built and covers the settlements according to the territorial division of the country. The second subsystem is built in 11 regional cities and the 30 km zone of Kozloduy NPP. NSEWA is a modern system based on Europe's leading information technologies. Its functional capabilities are relevant to the actions required by the Ministry of the Interior during threats and disasters, crises and emergencies. Technical support requires professional knowledge and skills as well as practice. Keeping the national system in readiness for activation is one of the main tasks of the Directorate staff. The provision of a functioning SEWA is directly dependent on increasing the coordination and interaction of the CISD-MI with the owners of the critical infrastructure (CI) sites, as well as with the local self-government bodies. National disclosure is a component of the strategy for protecting the population and CIs, as well as an opportunity to increase the security of business and civil society.
