Increasing the knowledge and skills of the employees of the regional laboratories of the Directorate General "Laboratory-analytical activity" of the EEA

The Executive Environmental Agency is an administration with the Minister of Environment and Water for the implementation of management, coordination and information functions in relation to the control and protection of the environment in Bulgaria. The Agency's administration is divided into general and specialized, with the Directorate General “Laboratory-Analytical Activity” (to which the project proposal is addressed) being part of the specialized one. It is structured in fifteen territorial units - one unit Central Laboratory-Sofia, comprising of nine departments and fourteen regional units located in the cities of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Turnovo, Vratsa, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Smolyan, Haskovo, Shumen. The territorial units carry out sampling of components and environmental factors and their subsequent testing in order to maintain up-to-date information on the state of the environment and up-to-date data in the National Environmental Monitoring System, to assist the Regional Inspections of Environment and Water in their control activity, as well as all four Basin Directorates in river basin management. The project activities and trainings aim to increase the expertise of the employees in the fulfillment of their basic duties, which is in line with the purpose of the procedure: "Improvement of the specialized knowledge and skills of employees in the territorial units / divisions and territorial structures". The main activities of the project are: Activity 1: Specific requirements for waste analysis; Activity 2: Practical sampling training; Activity 3: Requirements for measuring noise in the environment. All activities are planned for implementation on the territory of Bulgaria. For each project activity, the Beneficiary has also provided costs for preparation of project documentation, as well as indirect costs for project management, information and publicity, amounting to 8 % of the cost of the activities.
