Dealing with crisis situations

Some of the police`s main tasks, regulated by the Ministry of Interior Act are: protection of the national security and public order, protection in cases of natural disasters and emergency situations, protection against terrorism etc. This includes all acts of outbursts of anger, suicidal behavior, possible hostage-taking, and more. The main method of crisis management and resolution used by employees is negotiation. In the current political and socio-economic context, there is a need for acquiring specialized knowledge and skills for negotiating and dealing with crisis situations, as well as their continuous upgrading and updating. Recently, the type of terrorist threats, the terrorist`s way of thinking and acting, and hence the ways of influencing and negotiating, have also changed. Psychological science is ever evolving in its various aspects, including the understanding of stress and increasing mental resilience. That is why it is necessary to conduct new trainings on this subject and acquaint the employees of the Ministry of Interior with the current processes and trends. The aim of the project proposal is to contribute to the development of a competent and professional administration and to provide professional and expert management aimed at protecting society`s security and guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of all citizens by increasing the knowledge and skills of the Ministry of Interior`s employees. This goal will be realized in the following activities: - Activity 1 - Conducting specialized trainings for employees of the Ministry of Interior for dealing with crises and terrorist threats. During the implementation of the activity, specialized trainings will be conducted by institutions with international experience, certified in conducting negotiations. - Activity 2 - Development of training methodologies for conducting subsequent trainings. - Activity 3 - Trainings for over 2500 employees from the Ministry of Interior in three training modules.
