Even More Active in Partnership Management (OASIS)

Mission of BIONETWORK Association is to protect the environment and PROMOTE healthy lifestyle through various civic initiatives. The municipality of BYALA deals with a number of environmental challenges - eroded land, polluted beaches, drastic increases in household waste during the tourist season, high urban pressure in its centre. This project will ensure synergy between the partners' environmental efforts. We will encourage citizen input to improve public policies on environmental protection and urban mobility using information and communication technologies. On the one hand, through their participation, citizens will be able to give their opinions and suggestions to be heard, they will understand the decision-making process of the local authority and the efforts it makes, and their opinions will be reflected in this process. On the other hand, the administration will improve its openness, transparency and accountability and thus gain legitimacy for its decisions. Thirdly, the administration's efforts from its work on other projects (ECOTOURNET), to reduce car pollution and CO2 emissions and to promote environmentally friendly means of transport (bicycles) will be built on. Recommendations from the CSOs will lead to the upgrading of policies and tools related to urban mobility. Through the project we will create in the municipality of Byala OASIS - a municipal virtual corner where environmental issues and policies will be discussed and informed online - through forums, real-time discussions (live chat), good examples, through partners' staff. The municipality's website will be upgraded - a separate access point for environmental discussions will be provided through OASIS. The project activities will build on already identified good practices and innovative solutions related to improving citizen participation in the process of formulation, implementation and monitoring of environmental policies, under other projects funded under OP "Good Governance".
