Civic participation for a clean environment in the Municipality of Troyan

The problem with unregulated landfills is facing the Municipality of Troyan and is becoming even more relevant.The application of the LGMSA in its part concerning the methodology for calculating MSW in quantity increases the risk of unregulated waste disposal.We believe that the efforts of the local administration alone will not be enough to deal with this problem on their own. Introduction of mechanisms for real civic participation in the liquidation and counteraction for the formation of unregulated landfills are in the direct public interest. Target groups of the project are: Troyan Municipality, Troyan Municipal Council, NGOs; Business, Public The following activities are envisaged: 1.Project management, publicity and communication.2.Research and analysis of the municipal policies in environmental protection 3.Conducting a campaign entitled "Turning our human face to nature" and a survey to report the negative impact of unregulated waste on the environment and health 4.Elaboration of proposals for normative changes in favor of ecology at local level. Through the planned information campaign and volunteer eco-event we will raise public awareness of the harms and consequences of illegal waste disposal. Sustainable mechanisms for civic participation and building partnerships between institutions directly involved in eco-waste activities will be established. By studying the regulatory framework and the factors that directly affect the problem, we will form recommendations and proposals for improving the local regulatory framework in the direction of prevention and measures to combat unregulated waste disposal With the implementation of the project we expect the following Results Recommendations made to the process of policy formulation, implementation and monitoring Conducting an information campaign, volunteer action, round table, improved civil dialogue with institutions Developed analyzes, studies, research and proposals to improve the regulatory framework
