Protection of Bulgarian nature and ways to solve existing problems

The main goal of the project proposal is to improve citizen participation in the implementation of measures and mechanisms for the protection of protected areas in NATURA 2000 by monitoring the legislation and making proposals to resolve lawsuits against the administration. Activities: 1. Carrying out a comprehensive analysis of the current legislation and the current provisions related to the management of protected areas of the Natura 2000 network 2. Analysis of the practice in other EU Member States related to the management of Natura 2000 protected areas and the implementation of the Habitats Directive 3. Output from the point of view of the future law proposals for amendments to the current legislation for the management of protected areas with regard to the inclusion of citizens in the management processes of Natura 2000 4. Development of a proposal for legislative changes to resolve the case with a claim filed in the EU court against Bulgaria. 5. Carrying out information activities in order to increase citizen participation in the processes of monitoring legislation and lawsuits against the administration related to the management and protection of the NATURA 2000 network The main results of the project are: 2 reports from analyzes; Implemented 2 good European practices related to the management of Natura 2000 protected areas and the implementation of the Habitats Directive; Prepared 2 proposals for amending the legislation based on good practices in the EU to improve the involvement of target groups in the management of protected areas of the Natura 2000 network; Prepared 1 proposals for a proposal for resolving a case under criminal procedure of the European Commission submitted to the EU Court against Bulgaria; Held 1 presentation conference. Throughout the project period, the activities of Project Management, as well as Information and Communication will be implemented in order to comply with the specific requirements of the OPGG.
