Civic Participation of Children – Current Policies and Legislation

“Civic Participation of Children – Current Policies and Legislation” is a project proposal, whose vision and goals are built on the paradigmatic understanding that children are not merely the future of Bulgaria, but also its active present, respectively, that they should be guaranteed maximum opportunity for civic participation, incl. for monitoring and controlling relevant policies and legislation. Through the “Civic Participation of Children” Project, the National Network for Children - the largest civic association in Bulgaria of organizations and like-minded organizations operating in the field of children's rights - aims to conduct an in-depth, systematic analysis of the monitoring and implementation of policies and regulations in Bulgaria, directly concerning children, with a focus on child and youth participation (“CUP”). The aim is to fully investigate both the current legal framework and the bills discussed / adopted by the Bulgarian Parliament during the project period (01.06.2022 - 01.08.2023). The project team shall present before a wide audience, incl. before MPs from the 47th National Assembly, best foreign practices and a system of recommendations for improving and expanding the volume of CUP in Bulgaria, incl. in the context of the specific challenges posed by the ongoing fight against COVID-19. The project target group of children and youth shall be involved directly within the project implementation.
