Introduction of a system for monitoring and adjusting the workload of magistrates and court administration, setting standards for working conditions in the judicial bodies and improvement of their work efficiency

This project is a continuation of the efforts of the SJC to improve the quality, speed and efficiency of justice. The activities planned are consistent with the measures set out in the Roadmap for the Implementation of the Updated Strategy to Continue the Reform of the Judicial System. Within the project’s framework continuous monitoring on the implementation of the mechanism for measuring the weight of the different types of cases and files and the additional duties will be introduced. The project will develop a standard workload of the judges and prosecutors with the aim to achieve distribution of cases and files within the different structures of the judiciary and its integration with the other planning processes. Shall be studied the workload of the administrative staff within the judiciary (in courts and prosecution offices) and workload standards shall be set up. Within the project working conditions will be studied and working conditions standards shall be developed and introduced in courts and prosecution offices. It is envisaged to analyze the factors affecting the proceedings length within the courts and prosecution offices and possibilities for increasing the efficiency of their consideration. The planned activities fully comply with the priorities of the SJC and are part of the efforts to implement an efficient judicial reform.
