Development and promotion of rules for operation of Alternative Dispute Resolution Bodies

The project aims to broaden the scope and practical implementation of alternative consumer dispute resolution in Bulgaria by promoting various opportunities for setting up and functioning of ADR bodies especially in the non-public sector as well as conducting and closing these disputes in ways that satisfy different groups of consumers and traders. In order to achieve this goal, the project foresees development of rules of operation of ADR bodies to be used as a model in the process of their establishment and functioning. The project main target groups are the courts, consumer organizations, businesses and citizens in their role as consumer in consumer-business relations. The following activities will be implemented within the project: -Translation of good practices and data collection to support the process of expanding the introduction of alternative consumer dispute resolution -Development of an initial version of the rules for the functioning of bodies for alternative dispute resolution -Project public hearings and stakeholder training seminars -Drafting a final version of ADR rules and an algorithm for their establishment -Providing advice on setting up ADR bodies and obtaining feedback and assessment by citizens and business on ADR procedures -Providing an information campaign to promote alternative methods for solving consumer disputes -Providing information and communication on the project The results of the project will be: initiating a debate on strengthening the role of alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes; stimulating the process of setting up alternative dispute resolution bodies; raising awareness of different mechanisms for alternative settlement and settlement of disputes between consumers and traders.
