Cohesion support to address the migration challenges posed by the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine for refugees arriving in the Republic of Bulgaria through a measure implemented by the Ministry of Tourism/.

Military aggression by the Russian Federation against neighboring Ukraine and the ongoing armed conflict have fundamentally changed the security situation in Europe. As a result of this military aggression, the European Union (EU) and in particular its eastern regions, including Bulgaria, are facing a significant influx of people who have been displaced from Ukraine after February 24, 2022. This represents an additional challenge for public budgets at a time when Member States' economies are still recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and risks undermining preparations for a green, digital and sustainable economic recovery. At the same time, some Member States, including Bulgaria, are faced with a significant number of persons arriving from Ukraine, who must be provided with immediate support. Given the extraordinary events caused by the military actions in Ukraine, the persons who sought asylum on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria need support by taking specific actions to ensure their accommodation on the territory of the country, which is why it is necessary to take urgent measures. The actions under the procedure are to deal with the migration challenges caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and are to cover the basic needs of refugees from Ukraine, supported by the Ministry of Tourism - providing accommodation with breakfast and a hot lunch included in every displaced person who arrived from Ukraine to Bulgaria and received temporary protection. In providing the support, the horizontal principles of the European Union, applicable to the OPSU, will be respected, according to item 17 of the Guidelines for applying under the procedure.
