Increasing the level of technical and economic knowledge and skills of farmers from the Kyustendil district in the field of sustainable agriculture

The relevance of the topic of sustainable agriculture is determined by the need to develop the sector in a modern way and by the complex of effects on humans, the environment and the economy. On the one hand, consumer interest in food safety, the environment and welfareof animal is increasing. On the other hand, a number of motives underpin the conception of a more efficient use of resources in agriculture. Therefore the project is aimed at increasing of knowledge and improving the skills of farmers by achieving an appropriate level of technical and economic training with topic “Sustainable agriculture” in two aspects – on one hand environmentfriendly and on the other side - focused on effective use of to renewable energy sources. Two types of information seminars are planned to be organized within the project to cover a total of 180 persons - farmers / incl. employees on their farms / Kyustendil District: - 18 hour seminar with topic “Sustainable environmentally friendly agriculture - Restoration, protection and strengthening of ecosystems related to agriculture” delivered to 90 people, divided into 4 groups (2 x 25 participants and 2 x 20 participants) - 8 hour seminar on "Sustainable agriculture with efficient use of resources and renewable energy", which will cover 90 more people, divided into 3 groups x 30 participants As a result of the provision of the proposed seminars, included basic information on the concept of sustainable agriculture in its two implications, applicable to all farmers, they will acquire adequate and necessary knowledge and skills to help them improve their competitiveness and resource efficiency, improving the environmental indicators of their farms, while the implementation of training will help the sustainable economy of the farms in Kyustendil.
