Researching the possibilities for using high-protein sunflower seed extract for developing a new feed product/supplement as an alternative for expensive protein sources in the diets of broilers and milk cows. Following the effect of its use on the weight development of birds and the feed usage per weight gain unit, analysis of economic efficiency.

Operational group DZZD ”Trakiya” is created with the aim of developing and testing in real conditions of a new feed product or feed supplement, based on sunflower seed extract, which can provide for the protein component in the diet of milk cows and broilers. DZZD“Trakiya” is registered with NACE code 10.9.1 - Manufacture of prepared feeds for farm animals with the main purpose of developing animal feeds. Such is the specialization of the members of the Operational Group that will bring in different material and intellectual resources for the different phases of the development and testing of the new product. The Operational Group includes the Department of Morphology, Physiology and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agronomy of the Trakia University, which will focus on the scientific development of the product and an analysis methodology for the results of the practical tests; two companies with long-term experience in the production of animal feed and processing of cereals and several registered farmers, which will carry out the practical application of the product into the diet of the livestock. The end goal of the project will be a read- to-market product, which significantly improves the protein component in the diet of milk cows, calves for fattening and broilers, while the price is significantly lower than other competing alternatives. The ready product should improve the qualities of raised animals and directly improve profit margins for farmers in the fields of chickens and large livestock.
