Folklore riches of the birthplace

The Chitalishte "Razvitie-1895" of Strazhitsa applies the present project proposal with the idea of preserving the local cultural heritage by enriching and expanding its activity. Within the project, we plan to form a folk orchestra and buy the necessary tools. Such an orchestra existed until about 25 to 30 years ago, but then the tradition has been interrupted. We want to restore this tradition in order to preserve local folklore and pass it on to the next generations. After the formation of the orchestra and the purchase of the necessary instruments, two concerts will be prepared with local songs and dances specific to the local identity - one on the territory of the Municipality of Strazhitsa and one on the territory of Lyaskovets Municipality. At the concerts, besides folklore performances, we also envisage a re-creation of a forgotten unique local custom called "Gray". This custom was held in Strazhitsa for fertility and good harvest. Already very few elderly people from the city remember him. Through the project we will restore this custom and preserve this intangible cultural heritage. We also plan to introduce it to a new innovative method, such as a dance and song production. The project will host music workshops with children and young people from two social institutions from the territory of the municipality, with the aim of incorporating them into the music art. At the end of the project we will develop an advertising brochure, to promote the project results and information about the recreated custom. The recorded videos and photos from the concerts will be uploaded to the facebook pages of the community center and the municipality. Project information will be published on the site of the municipality.
