Promotion of traditional foods and recipes on the territories of "LAG - Troyan, Apriltsi, Ugyrchin” and LAG “Byala Slatina”

Many scientists today prove that the traditional local products, food and dishes prepared under traditional recipes have nutritional and health benefits. The Slow Food movement is gaining popularity, it's related to presentation and popularization of traditional products and recipes, pays significant attention to culture of food serving and tasting as essential to people's health and life. In terms of increasing globalization, local identity is at risk of losing its impact. The invasion of large international food chains significantly puts traditional food and recipes of the local communities at risk of extinction. The project proposal is planned to be implemented by LAG “Troyan, Aprilci and Ugarchin” (as LP) and LAG "Byala Slatina" (P). On the territories of both partners there are festivals such as the festival of the plum in Troyan, the festival of the lard and rakia in Apriltsi, the feast of the truffle in Ugarchin and a celebration of the traditional dishes in the village of Sokolare. The project aims at creating a new integrated approach in popularizing traditional local food and recipes. This approach involves conducting a study of the culinary heritage, diversity of traditional foods and recipes of the territories, organization of joint events which promote local foods and recipes, writing of a collection book for traditional foods and recipes, map of the places that offer local food and dishes prepared under traditional local recipes. The promotion events will include a large number of meetings and workshops to ensure the participation of as many stakeholders as possible. They include tastings that recreate the rich cultural and culinary traditions and create links between producers and consumers, as a non-material part of the project results. The events will be reported in the media on both territories, as well as in the website designed for the implementation of the project. A film and printed materials for the project's results will be made.
