Transnational Cooperation for Environmentally Responsible Local Communities in rural areas - Preparatory phase

The project is for preparation and development of a project proposal: Transnational cooperation for ecologically responsible local communities in rural areas, with thematic focus on ecology, environment and sustainable development. The preparatory activities are related to the study of the interaction between the development of the economic activities, including the tourism industry on the one hand and the protection of the environment and natural resources on the other; a survey of current environmental problems; developing a project proposal and acquiring knowledge and capacity to implement the future project. The idea of the project was proposed by LAG Razlog and supported by letters of interest from four potential partners: LAG SPLAV from the Czech Republic, LAG Kantri from Finland, LAG Pays du Bocage from France and LAG Pomorie from Bugaria. The preparation of the future project will identify appropriate measures and actions to be implemented in partnership. The project is based on the fact that the LAGs have the potential and opportunity to work to enhance the environmental responsibility of local communities by proposing new approaches and adapting good practices for nature conservation and more effective waste management, recycling waste, improving resource and energy efficiency. As a result of the project, the competitiveness of the enterprises will be improved, public attitudes toward green economy, organic and ecological industries, ecologically responsible tourism and environmentally friendly economic activities will be achieved. Improving the environment directly affects people's health and hence the quality of life. The topic is relevant and important for the territories of many rural areas of Europe. Sub conditions for the success of the project are similar'characteristics of the partners' territories as well as the significant experience of some of them in solving environmental and natural resources conservation problems.
