Construction of an eco-trail Petrified Forest, situated in the lands of the villages Raven, Bivolyane and Gurgulitsa

The project proposal aims to support tourism by establishing an eco-trail and creating conditions for visitors to get to know part of the rich cultural heritage in the municipality of Momchilgrad. In order to develop tourism and turn it into an attractive tourist destination, Momchilgrad Municipality intends to build and restore existing tourist infrastructure by building an eco-trail Petrfied Forest. The eco-trail can be generally summarized in the following sections: 1st Borovets Nature Reserve - Petrified Forest and 2nd Petrified Forest - Harman Kaya. The route of the tourist eco-trail starts from a forest pavilion and continues to the natural landmark Petrified Forest. Petrified Forest is a unique place in the world as a result of underwater volcanic activity 25-30 million years ago. Lava covered the trees, which, unlike other similar forests, are preserved right under the layers of ashes. It is planned to be built a rest area at the end of the Petrified Forest. The tourist route continues to the famous prehistoric cult complex Harman Kaya, described as "the largest Thracian city" with an approximate altitude of 428 m. After a tour of Harman Kaya with its interesting caves, remains of a megalithic complex and interesting rock formations, the route continues along an existing forest path. It reaches a fountain, which is along the asphalt road that leads to the village of Bivolyane. However, the planned tourist route continues along the existing asphalt road and reaches the religious complex Elmalı Baba Teke, where it is planned to place bicycles for rent. Wooden signs and information boards, wooden railings, an attractive wooden picture frame with a view of Harman Kaya along the route will be placed. In the construction of the eco-trail will be placed also some wooden bridges with railings, attractive wooden birdhouses, wooden benches and bins.
