Increasing the biosecurity in the poultry farm of Kalina Mihailova Shirokova by investing in a system for drying and transport of fertilizer masses

The project envisages increasing the biosecurity in the livestock farm of Kalina Shirokova, by purchasing and installing a system for drying and transport of fertilizer masses. Kalina Shirokova's livestock farm is located in the town of Debelets, municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, region Veliko Tarnovo (an area with a higher risk of epizootics) and laying hens are raised there. The investment under this project is planned for laying hen buildings 8,9 and 10, each with a capacity of 61,560 laying hens, a total of 184,680 laying hens. The system for drying and transport of fertilizer masses allows the drying of fresh poultry manure, significantly reducing the humidity of the manure from 85% to 15%. Rapid drying of poultry manure kills many pathogens and bacteria that can lead to the spread of infectious diseases in hens. The finished dried fertilizer masses are decontaminated, do not emit odors, easy to store and sell, are highly durable. Thus, the investment will improve the hygienic, veterinary, environmental and other production conditions in the poultry farm. Additionally, the system utilizes the residual heat from the laying hen buildings, using the air for ventilation on the farm. Thus, savings from medicines, electricity and other costs are realized, which reduces the cost, improves the quality of production and improves financial performance. Improved biosecurity measures and better financial results will establish the farm as a profitable farm with sufficient resources for the development of modern European poultry farming.
