Start-up support for the development of the farm of Fatime Dzhemal Gagam, in the town of Belitsa, Belitsa municipality, Blagoevgrad district, for cultivation of hothouse vegetables and perennials

The project proposal aims to obtain start-up aid for the development of the farm of the young farmer Fatime Dzhemal Gagam, located in the town of Belitsa, Belitsa municipality, Blagoevgrad district. At present, perennial plums (12.827 decares) and aronia (0.200 decares), hothouse tomatoes (0.376 decares) and hothouse pepper (0.250 decares) and land areas (3.070 decares) are grown on the farm. The initial economic size of the farm measured in the standard production volume is 24 475.44 BGN. Within the framework of the project the farmer is expected to increase the economic size of the farm with BGN 8 516.57 by planting another 5.322 decares of perennial plums and another 0.100 decares of hothouse tomatoes on part of the land available at the time of the application, and on additional rented land. At the same time, the farm, including the planned increase, will be certified for organic fruit and vegetable production. In order to improve farm mechanization, the farmer will purchase a long-term tangible asset - a motor milling machine to help with the cultivation of the land. Within a period of 9 months from the conclusion of the grant agreement, the farmer will pass a course of 150 hours to acquire professional skills and competencies in the field of agriculture as required, as well as a course on the problems of environmental protection in agricultural sector. In the middle of 2021 the farmer will hire 1 employee, which will help him in preparing and realizing the planned increase in the farm as well as in the work on the already growing farm. The final result of the project will be a viable, modernized and competitive farm for perennial plantations of plums and aronia, hothouse tomatoes and hothouse pepper.
