Development of an agricultural holding for breeding small ruminants and perennials plum plantations on the land of the town of Apriltsi, Lovech region

Ivaylo Mladenov Kolev is registered as a farmer according to Ordinance № 3/1999 of June 2016. Currently on the farm, located on the land of the town of Apriltsi, district Lovech, 30 sheep. In the year 2019-2020, the farmer manages a total of 156,310 decares with meadows and pastures, which are used for grazing animals and extraction of grass fodder for their feeding. When keeping animals on the farm, the legal requirements and good production practices are observed. The activities envisaged under the project aim to increase the economic size of the farm by at least 2000 euros by increasing the number of reared ewes to 60, creating and renting a total of 5 decares of perennial plum plantations, as well as its good market positioning of the farm. Ivaylo Kolev's livestock farm is currently in the process of registration under Art. 137 of the Law for the veterinary medical activity. In recent years in Bulgaria, and in the region of Apriltsi, where the farm is located, there are outbreaks of some highly contagious diseases of small ruminants such as bluetongue, which cause serious difficulties in agricultural production and lead to significant economic damage to farmers. Therefore, taking all necessary actions to prevent the possibility of infection transmission and planning and implementing preventive measures to prevent disease on the farm are particularly important for its sustainable economic development and bio-security. In this sense, during the implementation of the project, investments are planned in the purchase of a steam jet for disinfection of the premises for keeping animals and a disinfection bath for hooves.
