Reconstruction and Modernization of High School "Hristo Smirnenski", Gurkovo

The modernization and improvement of the educational infrastructure, in particular Hristo Smirnenski Secondary School of Gurkovo, is aimed directly at the teenager population of the municipality, which is 422 children, indirectly to their parents, who are looking for a competitive service to the big settlements. And also teachers and support staff working in the educational institution. Sustainable socio-economic development of rural areas is inextricably linked to existing infrastructure and quality of services provided to rural populations. The shortage of investment to upgrade existing infrastructure and the inadequate quality of services offered (in terms of cities) is the main element that continues to expand the boundaries of development between rural and urban areas in Bulgaria and which is also an obstacle to creating equal opportunities in social -economic development of rural areas. The investment in the project is aimed at overcoming these differences. The target group, the direct beneficiary of the investment under the project, is 422 children aged 7 to 18, and the total number of employees in the school is 40. The indirect beneficiary of the investment under the project is the parents of the children using the improved educational infrastructure and the enterprises in the municipality where the graduates are going to work. The project includes the following activities: -Construction works; - Construction Supervision; -Design supervision; -Management and administration of the project. The proposed intervention corresponds to the ever-increasing needs and expectations of the modern society of adequate public services. Given the negative demographic trends characteristic of the municipality as a peripheral towards Stara Zagora, it is of particular importance that the municipality undertakes concrete and accelerated actions for improving the quality of life and increasing the attractiveness of the city.
