Reducing the risk of forest fires in the municipality of Samokov

The project proposal of the candidate for the present procedure Municipality of Samokov includes activities for reducing the risk of forest fires eligible for sub-measure 8.3 "Prevention of forest fires from forest fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events". The forest areas on which the intervention will take place are qualified as areas with a high risk of forest fires. The selected activities are in compliance with the approved forestry plan of the municipality and are: 1. Creation of fire-fighting infrastructure - forests and mineralized stripes; 2. Construction of water source for fire fighting with a volume of 100 cub. m.; 3. Construction of new forest roads - serving fire-fighting infrastructure, fire-fighting water sources and fire-fighting activities in the forests, with a length of about 6220 meters. With the implementation of the project activities Samokov municipality will protect from forest fires an area of ​​5863 hectares. The expected result of the implementation of the project activities is to increase the municipal areas with preventive activities against forest fires, as a result of which the preservation of biodiversity, water and soil management will be improved.
