Forest fires pose a constant threat to nature, infrastructure and people. In recent years there has been a drastic increase in their number. Fires lead to organic matter loss, habitats, soil erosion, and are one of the largest sources of CO2 in the atmosphere impacting climate change. This project has been developed in response to these threats and the need for an adequate and timely response to the onset of global climate change leading to a deterioration in the health of forest areas. The project will be implemented in the forest territories on the territory of Simitli Municipality, as well as the direct effect of protecting the environment and the forest resource by preventing forest damage from forest fires, its realization indirectly will affect the way and the living conditions of the population of the municipality. It is envisaged the implementation of a set of measures for the prevention of forest fires on the territory of the municipality through the creation of fire-fighting infrastructure - forestry bulkheads, firebreaks, mineralized streams, as well as improvement of forest roads that will provide fast access to fire areas in the event of fires. The project will be implemented within 36 months by a qualified and motivated management team.
