Permanent cessation of fisheries activities of fisheries vessel BCH5307

Fishing vessel (FV) BCH5307 is part of its own fishing fleet of the commercial company Selin 09 EOOD, with the operational field of "PRODUCTION AND SALE OF FISH PRODUCTS, COMMERCIAL FISHING AFTER OBTAINING THE RESPECTIVE PERMITS, FISH TOURISM". The vessel has an external marking BCH5307 and has a total overall length of 7.5 meters. The gross tonnage of the vessel amounts to 2.07 tons and its age is 20 years old considered by current year 2017. The main fishing gear with which the vessel is equipped is GNS gill nets-anchored - (GO), and as a supplementary gear, the vessel uses a LHP - Flapper rig, manual fishing devices and other fishing rods- LO. The home place of the ship and its permanent registration is the port of Balchik. FV BCH5307 is an active fishing vessel that mainly target economically valuable fish species. With the implementation of this project, Selin 09 EOOD intends to balance its fleet by eliminating a less efficient vessel that generates high operating costs for fuel and maintenance. In addition, the company wishes to scrap BCH5307 because the gear used, possess low selectivity and will contribute to reducing unwanted catches which lead to additional costs of unloading, storage and handling and subsequent treatment for Selin 09 EOOD. The elimination of BCH5307 will improve the efficiency of Selin 09 EOOD's fishing fleet and the production program of the company will be preserved as the raw material will be more efficiently harvested from the other fishing vessels in the fleet. All of the above mentioned reasons led to the decision of the company to apply for the scrapping of a BCH5307 fishing vessel under Measure 1.3 "Permanent cessation of fishing activities". According to the requirements of the measure, Selin 09 EOOD will not register a new fishing vessel for 5 years after the date of receiving the grant.
