Permanent cessation of fisheries activities of fisheries vessel ShB 5868

Fishing vessel (FV) ShB 5868 represents the own fishing fleet of the commercial company Karia - Fish OOD, with the operational field of "PRODUCTION AND SALE OF FISH PRODUCTS, FISHING OF COMMERCIAL AND SPORT CHARACTER AFTER OBTAINING THE RESPECTIVE PERMITS". The vessel has an external marking ShB 5868 and has a total overall length of 9.8 meters. The gross tonnage of the vessel amounts to 4.2 tons and its age is 22 years old considered by current year 2017. The main fishing gear with which the vessel is equipped is GNS gill nets-(GO) anchored, and as a supplementary gear, the vessel uses a LHP - Flapper rig, fishing devices and other fishing rods (mechanical)- LO. The home place of the ship and its permanent registration is the port of Shabla. FV ShB 5868 is an active fishing vessel that mainly target economically valuable fish species. With the implementation of this project, Karia - Fish OOD intends to eliminate its fleet by scrapping a less efficient vessel that generates high operating costs for fuel and maintenance. In addition, the company wishes to scrap ShB 5868 because the gear used, possess low selectivity and will contribute to elimination of unwanted catches which lead to additional costs of unloading, storage and handling and subsequent treatment for Karia - Fish OOD. On third place, the candidate for a second subsequent year can not obtain a turbot fishing quota, which limits the potential fishery income. All of the above mentioned reasons led to the decision of the company to apply for the scrapping of a ShB 5868 fishing vessel under Measure 1.3 "Permanent cessation of fishing activities". According to the requirements of the measure, Karia - Fish OOD will not register a new fishing vessel for 5 years after the date of receiving the grant. The company intends to suspend all fishing activities, and to redirect its affords into development of commercial trade with fish and other aquatic organisms.
