Permanent cessation of fisheries activities of Fishery vessel Saint Marina

Fishing vessel (FV) Saint Marina is part of the own fishing fleet of the commercial company "Electrical Marine Ship Services" EOOD, with the operational field of "Catch, processing and trade with fish and aquaculture, after obtaining the respective permit". The vessel has an external marking Vn 4206 and has a total overall length of 8.9 meters. The gross tonnage of the vessel amounts to 5.52 tons and its age is 37 years old considered by current year 2017. The main fishing gear with which the vessel is equipped is GNS gill nets-anchored - GO, and as a supplementary gear, the vessel uses a LLD - Floating long lines - LO. The home place of the ship and its permanent registration is the port of Varna. FV St. Marina is an active fishing vessel that mainly target economically valuable fish species. With the implementation of this project, "Electrical Marine Ship Services" EOOD intends to balance its fleet by eliminating a less efficient vessel that generates high operational costs for fuel and maintenance. In addition, the company wishes to scrap St. Marina because the gear used, possess low selectivity and will contribute to reducing unwanted catches which lead to additional costs of unloading, storage and handling and subsequent treatment for "Electrical Marine Ship Services" EOOD. The elimination of St. Marina will improve the efficiency of "Electrical Marine Ship Services" EOOD's fishing fleet and the production program of the company will be preserved as the raw material will be more efficiently harvested from the other fishing vessels in the fleet. All of the above mentioned reasons led to the decision of the company to apply for the scrapping of a St. Marina fishing vessel under Measure 1.3 "Permanent cessation of fishing activities". According to the requirements of the measure, "Electrical Marine Ship Services" EOOD will not register a new fishing vessel for 5 years after the date of receiving the grant.
