The Bulgarian fleet faces serious problems caused by obsolete and unreliable equipment safety equipment, the inability to adapt to energy efficiency standards, the introduction of individual fishing quotas, and a substantial drop in catches of certain fish species in the Black Sea . Some of the company's vessels are old and inefficient for fishing due to lack of equipment and engines suitable for their tonnage. Despite the gradual restructuring, the company's fleet continues to suffer from a structural imbalance in the Black Sea fish stocks. This is also evident from the current project proposal for the definitive suspension of the fishing activities of the ship "St. George", which is among the main hunters of turbot and rapane. Mainly due to its high age, the ship is economically ineffective in fishing. The presence of an inactive and unused vessel in the fleet of the company is an operational problem and the company should respond to the possibility of discontinuing its fishing activities. The financing of the permanent cessation measure would lead to a reduction in the capacity of individual segments of the company's fleet whereby the implementation of the Fleet Adaptation Facility will help to achieve an effective balance between fishing capacity and fishing opportunities. Will contribute to reducing the negative impact of fisheries on the marine environment.
