Investments in an existing fishing port of Sozopol - terminal 1

Sozopol Municipality has applied for a project proposal "Investments in an existing fishing port of Sozopol - Terminal 1" for the provision of grants under the Maritime and Fisheries Program 2014-2020, funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, projects BG14MFOP001-1.009 "Fishing ports, landing quays, fish fairs and shelters", "Investments focused on the construction and / or modernization of covered boats".The port and its main constituent parts - territory and its adjacent aquatic area are located in the north-western part of the old town of Sozopol, along the coastline. The existing fishing harbor is within the boundaries of the old town and is located against the island of St. Cyrique, where at the beginning of the last century was built the only fishing school in Bulgaria for training of fishermen. The harbor has an adjacent aqueduct, which is part of the in-aquatory space of Sozopol harbor known as "Sozopolski Gavan".The fishing boat harbor is located in the coastal zone, along the coastline. The territory of a part of the street, the existing parking lot and the current coastal area have been reclaimed by the sea over the years, with a built-in quay wall of brick-built stone blocks, with a depth of marine aquaria in front of the quay wall between -2.0 and -3.0 m. The length of the retaining wall used for the quay when the fishing boats arrive in the municipal port and for carrying out the loading / unloading and servicing technical activities is 350,0 m.The inner part of the Sozopol harbor is reliably protected by the wave regime of the Black Sea, occurring in the southern part of the Sozopol Gulf. Reliable protection and natural connection with the old town are prerequisites for the natural formation of the municipal fishing port, which is used by about 75% of the fishing boats registered in the town of Sozopol.
