Upgrading and modernization of fisheries farm "Ovcharitsa"

The company "Nomikom FISH" is one of the biggest companies in the field of freshwater fish in Bulgaria. It operates in the dam "Ovcharitsa" an area of 1,100 hectares, located in the energy complex "Maritsa Iztok", Stara Zagora region. The company "Nomikom FISH" has its own nursery complex of 30 hectares, terrestrial pools, super intensive farm (cages and cement pools) in an area of 0.4 hectares. For over 25 years the company developed fish farming in natural ponds, containment basin and manmade pools. It offers quality fry and fish for consumption of the species: carp, grass carp, European catfish, American catfish, whitefish, trout. In the unique natural landscape with a rich fish and biodiversity of the lake "Ovcharitsa" the company "Nomikom FISH" has developed a complex servicing also the fishing tourism. Nomikom FISH has created and educational experimental basis "Aquaculture and Environment" actively used for training and scientific and practical activities of students and graduate students. The project is for purchasing modern equipment with which to modernize the processes servicing the needs of the economy "Ovcharitsa."
