The fishery utilization of the Ovcharitsa and White Kadenets dams by the Ovcharitsa Hydroelectric Facility began more than 20 years ago when NOMIKOM - Noncho Vodenicharov made the first steps for the cultivation and catching of fish in these reservoirs under contract with NEK - P Dams and Cascades. " Maritza-East 2 ”. In particular, particular emphasis is placed on the stocking of both dams with Mylopharyngodon piceus, which is the only natural adversary of the Dreisena polimorpha. The activities are for the development of aquaculture, compatible with the specific needs of the environment and in compliance with the specific requirements for the management of Natura 2000 protected areas, as a result of which the company suffers loss of revenue from its production.
