Construction and equipment of a hatchery complex with recirculating aquaculture system for the production of larvae and juveniles in the village of Sbor, Pazardzhik Municipality

The project proposal refers to the construction and equipment of a hatchery complex with recirculating aquaculture system for spawning and super intensive rearing of catfish (Silurus glanis) and zander (Sander lucioperca). Considering the equipment and technology, the complex is an innovative aquaculture farm with filtration systems, pump facilities, heating devices, control systems and repeated use of a given volume of water. The whole process implements two Patents/Utility Models No 3680-1/17.02.2017 referring to the "Composition of the environment to stimulate the spawning of warm/cold water fish species". The implementation of the technology requires the construction of a building in which to locate all the necessary equipment and facilities for the incubation of eggs and growing the hatched larvae, and rearing juveniles to reach an average unit weight of 3 g. The investor plans to create own brooding stock by buying 40 female and 120 male parental catfish, and 25 female and 75 male zander specimens. The program also includes rearing 50 g juveniles in outdoor pools, both catfish and zander. The technology provides and guarantees the health of the production through daily monitoring of nutrition, growth and sorting, and a periodic inspection by an expert. The project contributes to the sustainable development of the sector by: Implementing high-performance technology - a process that respects the environment. Introducing renewable energy sources to improve energy efficiency. Improving resource efficiency by means of recirculating systems. Opening new job opportunities. Improving the safety and working conditions, hygiene and health of workers by providing personal protective equipment and clothing for in- and outdoor work in different seasons and weather conditions. The project provides also places for relaxation, eating and recreation of the staff. Research and innovative products contribute to achieving the goals set by the Strategy Europe 2020.
