Intensive and semi-intensive fish breeding and farming at a fish farm in the existing water reservoir located in land plot № 54145.52.29 and land plot № 54145.52.28 in the village of Osenovo, Aksakovo municipality, Varna province.

The aim of this project is to invest in intensive and semi-intensive fish breeding and farming at a fish farm in the existing water reservoir located in land plot №54145.52.29 with an area of 27,698m2 and land plot №54145.52.28 with an area of 202m2 in the village of Osenovo,Aksakovo municipality,Varna province. The reservoir ‘Osenovo’ is a public municipal property in accordance with Public Municipal Ownership Act №6277/06.06.2016 and Municipal Ownership Act №6276/03.06.2016. It is run under a concession granted by the authorities through a concession agreement signed on 24.01.2017. At the time of signing of the concession agreement, the reservoir can`t collect water because of a damaged dam. The reconstruction of the damaged dam and related facilities (inflow structure, spillway, diversionary dam etc.) is needed in order to create a functioning reservoir. The technical project for the reconstruction of the dam and related structures involves construction and repair activities on the dam – the construction of a spillway and a drainage canal as well as the construction and repair of the floodgate and the basin.FOA Ltd will construct a fish cage installation with a production area of 216m2 – 863m3; density of cages –6.4kg/m2; and production capacity of 960kg/cage. The planned fish farm will breed sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus). The project also aims at improving energy and resource efficiency in the area. All project activities will be based on energy audits that will determine parameters related to the use of energy, as well as the energy characteristics of the fishery, the production infrastructure and the artificial lighting system.The competitiveness and viability of the fish farm will be further strengthened by measures aimed at improving the hygiene, safety, health and working conditions of employees. Currently, a full-time employee is employed on the farm, with the implementation of the project fully recruiting 6 new individuals and retaining existing staff.
